The Aachen Battery (WWI) reopens in 2019.

The Aachen Battery is the only German World War I coastal battery of which sufficient constructions have been preserved in order to paint an accurate and complete picture of coastal defence during WWI.

Over the past 4 years, the battery has been thoroughly and extensively restored and renovated.

Visit us and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of this coastal battery and everyday life under occupation.

THE AACHEN BATTERY (WWI) AT RAVERSYDE ATLANTIKWALL REOPENS IN 2019!

This unique bunker complex dating from the First World War is located in a hilly dune area overlooking the sea.

Over the past 4 years, the battery has been thoroughly and extensively restored and renovated.
Visit us and immerse yourself in the fascinating history of this coastal battery and everyday life under occupation. Through images, animations and a complete 3D-reconstruction you will find out more about the unknown war at sea and the sturdy coastal defences.

You can also enjoy some culture exploring The Green Checkered House by Dutch artist Lily Van Der Stokker. She was inspired by the artistic heritage of Belgian Prince Charles and the ship camouflage.
